PORTLAND Red Triangle were unable to complete the double over Poole Town seconds in Dorset County Division One, losing by six wickets at Poole Park.
In the first meeting between the two sides Portland had come out on top by 70 runs at Reforne.
The island side were put in and saw their entire top three depart to Kev Wrigley (3-9 off his full nine overs) without any of the trio reaching double figures.
Skipper Simon Proffitt got 34 along with Rich Samuel’s 37 in the middle-order, but then there were no other double figure contributions, except for extras which gave a shocking 42 runs including 39 wides.
Andrew Ruston polished off the tail for 3-10 off six miserly overs.
Ruston himself (5) opened the batting, but neither he, nor Matt Hobbs (8) troubled the scorers much, though the latter did dig in for 28 balls – coincidentally, that number also his strike-rate figure.
Wicketkeeper Jordan Down made 35 before being bowled by Matt Barrett.
Aryan Mehta (61*) and Alex Allum (21*) put on 67 to get Poole over the line. An expensive spell of Leon Adkins’ 3.5 overs for 27 helping them do so.
Poole sit top, 13 points clear of Witchampton firsts in second place, whilst Portland now are seventh, only six clear of Swanage and 35 points above the bottom side Hamworthy Rec.
