A man is to go on trial over allegations that he assaulted a woman and threatened to kill her.

Steven Robert Brook, whose address was given as Glebe Close in Abbotsbury, appeared before Poole Magistrates’ Court. No plea was indicated.

Brook, 66, was formally charged with one count of making threats to kill and one count of assault by beating.

Both charges relate to an alleged incident on March 9 of this year when Brook is reported to have threatened to kill a woman intending that she “would fear that the said threat would be carried out”.

It is also said that Brook assaulted the same woman on the same date.

The case was adjourned to be heard before Bournemouth Crown Court with the next hearing set for April 13. Brook has been remanded into custody.
