A MAN has been charged with assault, GBH and wounding with intent after a stabbing in Weymouth on Saturday night.

Dorset Police received a report at 8.42pm on Saturday, May 4, that a man had sustained suspected stab wounds following an assault in Canberra Road.

The victim – aged in his 30s – was taken to hospital for treatment to serious injuries that are not life-threatening.

A second victim, a woman aged in her 30s, sustained an injury to her hand during the incident that also required hospital treatment.

On Tuesday, a 20-year-old was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

Following an investigation by detectives from Dorset County CID, Paris Chabeaux Elliott, 20 and of Weymouth has now been charged with wounding with intent, inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

He was not charged with attempted murder.

Elliott appeared at Poole Magistrates’ Court earlier today, where he was formally charged.

He was remanded in custody until a pre-trial preparation hearing at Bournemouth Crown Court on Thursday, May 30.

A 53-year-old man, also from Weymouth, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. He has been released on police bail while enquiries continue.
