CHARMOUTH Primary and Greenford Primary did battle in a keenly contested Kenway Cup final at St Mary’s Primary School in Beaminster.
Greenford, from Maiden Newton, were very dominant in the early exchanges and had plenty of chances but Charmouth’s goalkeeper was in topform and made a number of excellent saves.
Forced to make a substitution during the first half, Charmouth created some chances but failed to convert them.
Greenford started the second half strongly, scoring the first goal of the match.
And soon after they scored again to extend their lead. The Charmouth goalkeeper was left with little chance for either of the goals.
Not downhearted, Charmouth came back strongly and created more and more opportunities.
And from a good move started by Henry Davy, Millie Pearce raced away to slot home.
Charmouth were back in the game and continued to press forward.
Shots rained in on the Greenford goal but it remained intact until the final whistle with Charmouth continuing to press forward but to no avail.
Greenford were crowned champions but Charmouth played their part in an entertaining and sporting contest.
Thanks must go to St Mary’s for hosting the game and to Lee Cuff and his Teamtheme team for their excellent organisation.
