BRYONY Shaw missed out on third place by the narrowest of margins in the RS:X event at the World Windsurfing Champion-ships in Kerteminde, Den-mark.
The Beijing Olympic bronze medalist climbed from fifth to fourth on the final day, her best ever result in the event.
But the Weymouth sailor failed to make the podium after tying on points with France’s Charlene Picon, who was placed higher in the 10-boat finale.
Shaw’s Spanish training partner Blanca Manchon won gold.
Defending men’s champion Nick Dempsey, also from Weymouth, slipped from eighth to finish ninth overall, with Poland’s Piotr Myszka the victor.
Meanwhile, Paul Goodis-on relinquished his world crown when he could only finish ninth in the Laser World Championships at Hayling Island.
