DEPARTED goalkeeper Ryan Harrison quit Weymouth because he felt the club did not return the loyalty he showed through very testing times.
The 24-year-old custodian was dropped for the first time this season at Staines Town last week to be replaced by on-loan stopper Joe Welch between the sticks.
That decision upset Oxford-based Harrison and led him to cancelling his contract with the club before joining Zamaretto League Premier Division high-fliers Brackley on Friday.
“I'm sad and disappointed that I feel I've had to leave,” Harrison exclusively told Echosport. “I feel I gave everything to the club and the fans have been fantastic from day one.
“I just feel a bit let down by the management – they showed me no loyalty after all we’ve been through going two months without money and faced the possibility of the club going into liquidation.”
By his own admission, Harrison had a poor game against Eastleigh on February 2 and was dropped for the defeat to Staines Town four days later.
“I felt my performances throughout the season warranted another chance,” said Harrison. “I can understand it if a player has a couple of bad games on the bounce but I haven't been chucking them in left, right and centre and warranted a bit more loyalty.”
He added: “I’m gutted to be honest because I have loved every minute I have been there.
“It’s been far from easy but the bunch of lads we’ve had from the start have been great and we all stuck together.”
Terras’ boss Gill said: “For me there is a way you deal with things when you come out of a team and there is a way you need to be responsible as an individual.
“But it’s fine, it’s a mutual consent thing and we’ve shook hands at the end of it but he wants to move on and we don’t want anyone at this club who doesn’t want to play for Weymouth.”
* Weymouth Reserves’ Dorset Premier League trip to Holt United was postponed.
United were able to call the game off as they had two players called up to the Dorset Under-18 squad.
The Terras had keeper Michael Neish representing the county but were all set to play until Holt’s decision to postpone the fixture.
