BALTI SPORTS 3

BALTI Sports ended their hoodoo at Chapel Gate, overturning a 1-0 deficit on their way to beating Bournemouth Sports 3-2 in the Dorset Premier League.

Marco Nott’s men have traditionally travelled badly to their Sports counterparts and fears of another poor result loomed when Jai Crowther netted in the 10th minute.

Balti lived dangerously when Karol Borowski’s shot was cleared off the line but the Weymouth side hung in there and levelled against the run of play when Jack Summers punished poor defending from a free-kick for 1-1.

Not long into the second half, Balti were given a contentious penalty with the hosts claiming the foul to have taken place outside of the box.

However, Matt Chambers was unfazed by the home protests and duly converted for a 2-1 lead.

Bournemouth were then victims of their own downfall again as Balti grabbed a third goal, Chambers finishing from close range following more questionable defending.

Balti’s third prompted a change from Bournemouth and the hosts dominated the final half an hour.

When Jamie Trimble’s header flew past Harrison Wallis for 3-2, the Balti box came under siege as Sam Darlow and Trimble both clattered the bar, Harrison Wallis producing a wonder save to tip one shot onto the woodwork.

Speaking to Echosport, Nott said: “It made my Christmas, to be honest!

“It drives me mad every year, we can never win up there. Even when they were Parley Sports, we’d never won either.

“It’s nice to get that one off my list. The lads were absolutely superb for such a young group. I think the oldest was 23.

“They worked so hard. We’ve had a lot of injuries and haven’t had a recognised striker for a couple of months. It’s such a refreshing team this year, they give it their all every game.

“That win’s important for them. We haven’t had a win for a while now. To get their just rewards was a great way to show hard work pays off.”

Balti face a tricky test at home to leaders Wimborne Reserves today (2pm).

Nott added: “They’re the best team we’ve come up against this season.

“It’s nice to see they’re as high as they are. Being at home we should be in confident mood, the belief we’ve got is huge.

“I think we can get a result if we have that positive mentality. The boys have just gone for it.”

Balti have 20 players available but Jake Hawker and James Hansford (thigh) miss out. New signing Sol Roche is also unavailable.

Balti: Wallis, Jarvis, Hawker, Hansford (L James 15), Allison, O James, Clark (Biles 55), Stavrianos, Chambers, Summers (Nichols 65), Gear (Rupp 75).
