BALTI Sports’ boss Marco Nott spoke of the “really good vibe” at the club after picking up four more points in a productive week of Dorset Premier League action.

Nott’s side came from behind to beat Poole Borough 2-1 on Saturday and then fought back to earn a 2-2 draw with Portland United Reserves late in Tuesday’s clash.

After a summer of upheaval and great change, Balti occupy fourth place in the early standings and sit just two points off leaders Hamworthy Reserves.

Against Poole, they earned a second consecutive win despite Liam Smith’s early back-post header putting the Hornets in front.

New-look Balti had to wait until the 80th minute to equalise as Sami Nichols nodded home a corner and the winning goal came just minutes before full-time as Danny Andrews converted a Callum Allison cross.

Portland also came close to taking all three points from Cranford Avenue, fighting back from 1-0 down after ten minutes.

Sam Moggeridge made a good save from Matty Chambers in a one-on-one but the parry was mopped up by Fin Jarvis, who scored his maiden Balti goal.

Balti’s play became sloppy following the opener and Tom Butcher levelled matters with a stunning finish, jinking in from the left-hand wing and curling home past Sports’ new keeper Harrison Wallis.

It remained 1-1 until the break, shortly after which Troy Walbridge nicked possession and ran through on goal to put the Blues 2-1 up.

Derek Wall had an effort cleared off the line but Balti but the striker turned provider late on for the equaliser, his long throw met superbly by the head of Aston Butcher for 2-2.

However, the match ended on a sour note when a heavy Nichols challenge sparked outrage among the Portland players, leading to a fracas.

Nichols was booked, along with Portland’s Shane Evans and Ben Holloway, plus Balti coach Rob Marquis, but neither side could find a winner after that.

Nott told Echosport: “That’s seven points out of the last nine. After the initial game we’ve changed a lot, formation included, and the boys are playing with confidence.

“You can tell game by game they’re getting to know each other more and there’s a really good vibe.

“I’m delighted after that big win last Tuesday to back it up, it’s the way we’ve down it by fighting to the end to get these points. It means a lot to the players that they’re willing to give it their all.”

Balti next host Sherborne Reserves on Saturday (3pm).

James Handford and Marcus Biles (both hamstring) miss out, along with Chambers, Phil Anderson and Stef Stavrianos. Adam Batchelor and Ethan Devaney could return.
