WIMBORNE TOWN RES 5

BALTI SPORTS 0

NEW-LOOK Balti Sports began their Dorset Premier League season with a 5-0 thrashing at Wimborne Town Reserves.

Balti, who have transformed themselves this summer with a smattering of young and hungry talent, were effectively out of the contest by half-time as the Magpies soared into a 4-0 lead.

Balti did have the first opening when Jack Summers was presented with a half-chance to find an empty net from outside the box, only to see Wimborne crowd him out.

Wimborne then broke and netted their first goal as Addwell Chipangura stole in for a back-post finish and a 1-0 lead.

Chipangura added his second when he outpaced the Balti defence from a through ball and expertly rounded Balti keeper Andy Nott to score.

Nott was chipped by Finlay Toghill for 3-0 and matters worsened for Balti when Jake Hawker conceded a penalty as last man, earning a red card in the process.

Chipangura stepped up and beat Nott from the spot to secure his hat-trick, all before half-time.

Balti, to their credit, battled on in the second half, lifting their standards despite the numerical disadvantage.

Derek Wall bustled through the Wimborne defence twice without reward and Louis Gear fired over at the back post as Balti were denied a consolation.

In the end, Chipangura ending up completing a quadruple with a deflected strike that deceived Nott in a microcosm for Balti’s afternoon.

Balti boss Marco Nott said: “We went there with high hopes to try and get something out of the game.

“It’s going to be baby steps. I think there were only four players in the squad from the squad last year, it’s a drastic change and a lot of them are young.

“It’s going to take a while for us to warm up but there are plenty of positive signs. We’ve been changing formations a bit.

“Wimborne played some nice football and cut us open at times, it was far too easy for them to get in and score the way they did.

“We also had a red card and a penalty in the first half, which I felt was a little harsh and a double punishment.”

Balti were due to play Bridport Reserves last night and go on to host Poole Borough on Saturday (3pm).

Balti: A Nott, Gear, Hansford, Anderson, Hawker, F Jarvis (Rupp 55), James, Batchelor (Nichols 35), Chambers (Stavrianos 75), Wall (Allison 70), Summers (Preece 45).
