‘HURTING’ Weymouth manager Bobby Wilkinson felt the pain of a second home loss in four days as Havant & Waterlooville beat the Terras 2-0 in the Vanarama National League South.

Turning in arguably their best performance of the league season so far, bottom team Weymouth controlled most of the game.

However, a familiar ailment of failing to take chances plagued the Terras once more as the hosts twice hit the woodwork against an unbeaten Hawks side occupying second in the table.

And in almost identical fashion to Saturday’s 2-0 defeat by Dover, Weymouth conceded twice in six minutes deep into the second half to sustain an eighth league loss in ten games.

Speaking to Echosport, Wilkinson gave an honest appraisal of the Terras’ shortcomings.

“I’m hurting, I’m not going to lie, because of how proud I am of the football club, the fans and players,” he said.

“They started to do the philosophy of football I want, quick movement, get it forward in the right areas, played some beautiful football.

“We just didn’t take our chances.”

He added: “Their manager (Paul Doswell) has already come out and said publicly how brilliant we were for 75 minutes.

“I’ve had a lot of people say to me that’s the best game they’ve seen in 18 months at home, it’s a nice thing to hear.

“It still hurts because I didn’t get the three points. I’ll just take all the positives, I’ll keep working extremely hard for this football club.

“You can see what a massive improvement we’ve done in ten days and we’re just going to have to improve and keep believing we can pick up three points.”
