DORCHESTER Town temporary boss Jody Rivers admits the Magpies are “busy” behind the scenes as the search for a new manager continues.
Dorchester have been without a permanent replacement for Callum Brooks since the former Hamworthy boss resigned in the wake of a 3-0 loss to Met Police on Saturday, December 7.
Rivers’ men have since played three eventful matches, picking up a point from a pulsating 4-4 draw at Gosport, losing 5-1 at home to Tiverton and sustaining a 1-0 defeat to Poole with nine men.
On the managerial situation, Rivers told Echosport: “I know that they’re interviewing, speaking to people and there are certain people who have gone ‘no’, like me.
“At this moment in time, I’m planning for a game of football because I can only control what I can control – that’s to set the team up to play Blackfield & Langley.
“It’s been busy from their perspective but as far as I’m concerned we’re ready to go (on New Year’s Day).
“If you’re from the outside looking in and you see where we are in the league and results that have happened, anyone that’s got any pedigree will know it’s a tough job in front of them.
“It’s not a case of ‘we’re dead and buried’. There’s enough quality in the squad and enough good people in the club to get us out of trouble.
“It’s certainly a challenge but not one that should put off a manager in the long term.”
Rivers’ men, placed in 21st in the BetVictor Southern Premier South, host Blackfield tomorrow (3pm).
Elsewhere, Dorchester will now travel to Swindon Supermarine on Tuesday, January 21 for their rearranged league clash.
