WEYMOUTH manager Mark Molesley said that it was probably the best evening he has had at Weymouth as he witnessed his side confidently beat Slough Town 1-0 in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division.

Molesley first joined the club as a player in July 2015 and was grateful for the support the fans showed during the win over their play-off rivals.

Molesley said: “This is probably the best atmosphere, the best evening I have had at Weymouth.

“It felt like a proper football league club. I think the boys rose to that, we have got some great players out there on show. I am so pleased that we have come out and delivered a really good performance.”

Calvin Brooks scored in the 46th minute after a cross from Abdulai Baggie to send an already electric Bob Lucas Stadium into delirium with 822 fans in attendance.

“Anyone who came here today will see the desire and the application from our boys and under the lights here like that. It felt like football was back in the town,” Molesley said.

As a result Weymouth have strengthened their play-off bid and now sit on 84 points, 20 points clear of sixth-placed Royston Town having just six games left to play in the league, with two coming in the next week.

Molesley added: “I think they have waited a long time for a team that they can be proud of and work hard and do that and I think we delivered that performance.

“I just hope that they come out and put that support behind us again because you can see the difference it makes.”

The Terras are next in action on Saturday away at second-placed Kettering Town (3pm), who have won four in four.
