KIEFFER Moore is relishing the challenge of Championship football after Yeovil Town moved for the Magpies’ striker.
The 20-year-old will join the Glovers for an undisclosed fee, subject to passing a medical and agreeing personal terms.
It is understood he is to sign a two-year contract with the Huish Park outfit, who won promotion from League One last season via the play-offs.
Moore only joined Dorchester in February and finished the campaign with 20 goals in the Conference South, 13 coming for former club Truro City.
A handful of clubs had shown an interest in Moore but the frontman has opted for Yeovil and scored on his debut in a 3-1 friendly win at Poole Town on Saturday.
“I’m really pleased with the deal,” he told Echosport. “It’s a step up for me and I’m going to enjoy the challenge.
“I’m looking forward to playing for a Championship club and it’s going to be a great experience.
“I’ve got the confidence to play at Championship level and I believe in my own ability; I think I’ve got what it takes.
“The things that attracted me to Yeovil are that it’s a nice family club and they’ve got a small squad so there are good first-team opportunities.
“If I was going somewhere else I’d be in their under-21 squad and I’d probably have to wait a while to progress.
“There were about five clubs interested in signing me but Yeovil is the one I’ve chosen and I’ve settled in nicely.
“I really enjoyed my time at Dorchester. It’s a really nice club with nice people and it was a good experience for me.”
On his aims with Gary Johnson’s men, he went on to add: “Hopefully I can break into the team and show what I can do in the Championship.
“I want to go as high as I can in the game and the Premier League is quite a step but I think I’ve got what it takes and hopefully I’ll get there someday.
“I think Yeovil is the right place for me to improve my game.”
An injection of funds will no doubt be a welcome boost for the Magpies, even if they are losing a prolific marksman at the same time.
In a statement, the club said: “Kieffer is a very powerful centre forward, good in the air and on the ground, and he is very ambitious and the club would like to wish him all the very best with his football career and thank him for his time at the club.”
