The body of a man was recovered from the water at Portland Marina, police have confirmed.
Dorset Police received a report around 8.02am on Saturday that a man was unresponsive in the water off Hamm Beach Road on Portland.
The man was recovered from the water but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
It is believed the man was returning to his boat in the marina on Friday night when he ended up in the water.
Police are not treating the death as suspicious, and the man’s next of kin has been informed. The coroner has been notified.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “Dorset Police received a report at 8.02am on Saturday 27 April 2023 of a man unresponsive in the water off Hamm Beach Road on Portland.
“Officers attended and the man was recovered from the water. Very sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The death is not being treated as suspicious and the man’s next of kin have been informed.
“The coroner has been notified.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s loved ones at this difficult time.”
A spokesperson for Portland Marina said: "We are aware of the incident at Portland Marina resulting in a loss of life. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected.
"As the police investigation is underway, we are unable to comment further at this time."
