The Weymouth Lifeboat crew were called to reports of a person in the water in Weymouth last night.

At around 4.23 am on Sunday, April 28, The Weymouth Lifeboat launched towards the reported location of the person.

The crew was stood down en route after the coastguard confirmed that the incident had been resolved.

A spokesperson for Weymouth Lifeboat said: "We were paged at 4.23am, by the coastguard to reports of a person in the water in Weymouth Bay.

"Having launched and proceeded toward the reported location they were stood down en route, following confirmation from the coastguard that the incident had been resolved safely, at 4.42am.

"The crew returned to station, washed down and made the Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) ready for service."
