Police enquiries are continuing after a woman was rushed to hospital with serious injuries following an alleged assault in Dorchester.

At around 10.50am on Sunday, March 24, officers received a report that a woman had been assaulted earlier in the morning at an address in Damers Road.

A 28-year-old woman and a 51-year-old man, both from Dorchester, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and have since been released on police bail while investigations continue.

The victim – aged in her 40s from the Dorchester area – sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment by the ambulance service.

Detectives are still appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following the alleged assault.

Detective Inspector Rhys Griffiths, of Dorset County CID, said: “From our initial enquiries, we believe the incident happened inside an address and involved individuals who are known to each other.

“An investigation is underway, and I am appealing to anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity in the area during the morning of Sunday, March 24 to please get in touch.

“A cordon has been put in place at the scene and there will be an increased police presence while officers carry out detailed enquiries.”
