A man was found dead in the grounds of a hospital, police have said.
The man was found unresponsive in the grounds of the Yeatman Hospital in Sherborne yesterday, Friday, just before 2pm.
Emergency services were alerted but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The death is currently being treated as non-suspicious.
The news comes as many people noticed an increased police activity in the town.
A spokesperson for Sherborne Police said: “Regarding increased police activity in the area, Dorset Police received a report at 1.57pm on Friday, January 5, that a man had been found unresponsive in the grounds of the Yeatman Hospital in Sherborne.
“Emergency services attended and, very sadly, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene. The man has been identified and his next of kin have been notified.
“The death is currently being treated as non-suspicious and enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.
“It is believed that no-one else was involved in the man’s death.”
