A NATIONAL radio DJ has told his listeners of the ‘great weekend’ he spent in Weymouth.

BBC Radio 1 DJ Greg James, who has family in the town, visited the resort to celebrate his nan’s 100th birthday.

Greg posted pictures to his Facebook page of him and his family enjoying themselves on Weymouth beach and photographed a menu at what appeared to be the Spyglass Inn Harvester restaurant in Weymouth.

He wrote: “Welcome to The Hundred.

“My Nan is ONE HUNDRED YEARS OLD today. When she was born, Lenin was still alive, the BBC had only been around for a year and The Empire State Building didn’t exist.

“A great weekend in WHEEEEEEYMOUTH with a great gang celebrating her majesty the queen.”

Greg’s visit comes just two months after he proved himself to be a true ambassador for Weymouth – waxing lyrical about the resort to his millions of listeners on his Radio 1 Breakfast Show.

The DJ referred to the resort for the second day in a row on his popular breakfast show, giving a shout-out to his aunt and uncle in Weymouth and to Radipole Primary School.

The school was attended by former Little Mix band member Perrie Edwards, who, the previous day had appeared on Greg’s show to talk about her love of the town.

She said the Dorset town, where she spent some of her time growing up, is 'lit' and told of how she was currently in Weymouth at a writing camp.
