Passersby on St Mary's Street in Weymouth may have noticed that something is different about the Kentucky Fried Chicken fast food restaurant.
Namely that the K - which stands for Kentucky - was missing.
Staff arriving at 6am to open the restaurant noticed the sign had been damaged, finding the K strewn on the ground.
A staff member believes, based on precedent, that the damage was done by a delivery truck. He said: "When we started this morning we came in to work to find the K on the floor, so it must have happened very early hours.
"It was hit by a delivery truck, nothing more, nothing less.
"Four times in the past a delivery truck too big for the street has demolished our sign.
"It will most likely be fixed this week. Can't have it like that for long."
The lone K is currently housed in the shop's bin room.
