Two people are in hospital with serious injuries after a crash on the A354.

Emergency services were called to Blandford Road, Tarrant Hinton just after 3.30pm on Monday, December 5 following a two car crash.

The road was closed for nearly five hours as police, fire and ambulance service crews all attended the scene.

A heavy emergency service presence responded to the incident with the air ambulance deployed.

Two people were taken to Dorset County Hospital with injuries described as 'serious'.

Fire service crews from both Blandford and Poole Fire Station attended and used hydraulic cutting equipment to extract two people and make the scene safe.

The road reopened at around 8pm.

A spokesperson for the South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SWASFT) said: “We were called at 15.37hrs on Monday 5 December to a road traffic collision in the Tarrant Hinton area. We sent two double-crewed land ambulances, an operations officer, a critical care car and an air ambulance. We conveyed two patients via land ambulance to Dorset County Hospital.”

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "(We were) called at 3.34pm on Monday 5 December 2022 to report of two vehicle collision in Blandford Road in Tarrant Hinton.

"Police, fire and ambulance attended. Road was closed."

"Vehicles were recovered and road reopened at around 8pm."

"Serious injuries reported."
