A man had to be taken to hospital after suffering a medical episode and falling down a steep slope.
Emergency services were called to a cliff just south of Portland YOI at around 7pm last night (November 22) after a report a young man had fallen whilst walking his dog.
Coastguard crews from Wyke and Portland Bill all attended the incident alongside the ambulance service.
A rope technician was lowered to the man and stabilised him in a rescue sling.
It was ascertained that the man had suffered a lower back injury and so a second technician was lowered with a stretcher.
Once the man had been safely transferred into the stretcher the crews overhead were able to recover the technicians and the casualty to the top of the cliff.
The coastguard then stretchered the casualty to the ambulance to be taken to Dorset County Hospital for further treatment.
