A MAN who was allegedly assaulted is in a stable condition after he suffered a serious head injury.
A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.
Last night, a man was allegedly assaulted on Weymouth Town Bridge, near the junction with Trinity Street. He sustained serious head injuries and was taken to hospital by air ambulance.
His condition is stable.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "At 6.37pm on May 2, Dorset Police received a report of an assault on Town Bridge, close to the junction with Trinity Street in Weymouth.
"Officers and the ambulance services attended and a man was taken to hospital by air ambulance with a serious head injury. His condition is described a stable.
"A 28-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and is helping officers with their enquiries."
