Hi readers, it’s Emily and William here, welcoming you into 2020.

Normally we write about our New Year’s resolutions but because they are so hard to keep (last year we weren’t able to stick to them) we think it’s safer not to make any! Instead we’d like to tell you about some of the wonderful things we’re looking forward to this year.

I, Emily, am looking forward to continuing helping at People First Dorset. That’s my number one. Next is going on a couple of holidays, especially a cruise for my 30th birthday with Mum. We’ve never been on a cruise before and are already excited!

I, William, am really looking forward to representing the Friendship Club Steering Group at the Management Committee meeting in January, to find out what they get up to and tell them about our Steering Group. I’m also looking forward to the Humphries Kirk’s Business Breakfast in January, to tell people why the support People First Dorset gives to people with learning disabilities is so important. I’ve no holidays planned yet, but hopefully will get some organised.

We’re both excited about going to Café Hendover more with People First Dorset too. We love seeing Paul the owner and the staff there. We are also looking forward to the Cancer Research Institute in Poundbury. It sounds really interesting, and we want to know about cancer and preventing it, or managing it if you have it.

I, Emily am looking forward to taking part in the next Womens Group, and talking about the issues which women face, which are different to men. I, William, also look forward to continuing our men’s meet ups, Café Refresh and the inclusive church services at Dorchester Baptist Church.
