A vehicle was left completely destroyed following a fire on the A35.
Part of the A35 was closed whilst emergency services dealt with the incident.
The fire was reported to be on the A35 Puddletown Bypass near to the the Tolpuddle turn-off.
Police and fire crews attended but no one was reported to have been injured.
A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said they received a report about the fire at 12.30pm.
"We sent two crews from Dorchester. On arrival they found a vehicle to be well alight and used two hose reels and two sets of breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire," the spokesman said.
The westbound carriageway was closed and one lane was reopened at 1.20pm after police were able to move the car off the road.
The second lane remained closed due to fuel and debris on the road.
Officers have now made the scene safe and the road has now been reopened.
In an update from Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service they said the vehicle was completely destroyed.
