Police have launched an investigation after a camper van was "completely destroyed" by fire in the early hours of this morning.

Fire and police were called to the vehicle on St. Swithins Road, Bridport, at around 1.10am. 

Two fire crews from Bridport were called to the scene.

A spokesman for Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "On arrival they found a camper van well alight and extinguished the fire using two breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets.

"Unfortunately the van was completely destroyed by the fire."

Police say the cause of the fire is currently unclear and enquiries are ongoing.
