A road was closed due to fire involving a car. 

The A35 Charmouth bypass was closed both ways due to the fire between the A3052 Axminster Road and B3157 West Bay Road at the Crown Roundabout.

It has since reopened.

The car was reported to be around one mile south of Frogmore. 

Traffic was heavily congested but is now starting to clear. 

Police and fire services were at the scene, and police closed a 'large section' of the road as there were no diversions available for larger vehicles.
