FIREFIGHTERS were called to a car fire near Dorchester which involved the car rolling down a hill into a hedgerow.
The incident happened earlier this evening at around 5.20pm in Lower Burton, near Charminster.
Crews from Dorchester found a hatchback vehicle well alight. The handbrake then failed which led to the car rolling down a hill and coming to rest in a hedgerow.
At the height of the fire the vehicle was 100 per cent involved, there was a running fuel fire and a hedge on fire.
It was at this point a second appliance from Dorchester was requested.
The fire was eventually extinguished using two hose reel jets and one dry power extinguisher.
Environment Agency equipment was also used to absorb a small amount of spilt oil on the road surface.
The vehicle was later recovered. The situation was brought under control just before 6pm.
