THE fundraising legacy of a brave youngster will live on at a new family business.

Cameron Southam died in September last year, just 106 days after being diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.

During his battle with the tumour thousands were raised to give his family the chance to create special memories with the youngster, who was aged just two years and nine months when he died.

And since his death the fundraising efforts have continued with the proceeds now going towards

the purchase of a caravan for families in a similar situation.

Cameron’s auntie Victoria Ciftlik and uncle Cem Ciftlik are opening a kebab shop at Littlemoor Shopping

Centre in Weymouth this Monday – and they are already making plans to hold fundraising events for ‘Cameron’s Campaign’.

The couple say the new business, Hidden Gem Kebab House, has been something they have been working towards for several years.

Cem said: “This has been a four year project and we are finally there.”

There will be a grand opening with Mayor of Weymouth and Portland Christine James due to attend and former councillor John Birtwistle, who has been supporting the couple, also due to be there on the day.

While their focus is on the big opening, which runs from 12noon to 9pm with free samples on offer until 2pm, they are already looking forward to fundraising efforts for Cameron and are planning to do something on Thursday, June 9, which will mark the anniversary of when Cameron was diagnosed.

Victoria said: “All the money will go towards a caravan so that terminally ill children can stay in it.”

Cem said they hoped it

would be the first of many

fundraising events to mark various anniversaries in Cameron’s life.

The couple are also hoping to get neighbouring shops and the local community involved in

future fundraising efforts.

Details of the opening event can be found on the Hidden Gem Kebab House Facebook page.
