FIREFIGHTERS were alerted to a car fire in Littlemoor early this morning.
Crews were called just before 8am to reports of a car fire in Geelong Close.
A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 7.48am. One appliance from Weymouth attended. The car was extinguished using one hose reel jet.”
Crews used two sets of kit to allow them to breathe.
Dorset Police also attended the scene.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called by Dorset Fire and Rescue Service at 7.50am this morning to reports of a car on fire along Geelong Close, Weymouth.
"Enquiries are ongoing as to the cause of the fire."
A neighbour who did not wish to be named said: "I woke up this morning to get the kids ready and you could really smell smoke in the air.
"I looked out the window and just saw the whole street was filled with smoke and the car was completely on fire.
"Firefighters then came and extinguished it. I've no idea how it started but I am glad everyone is okay.
"It was quite scary as it was quite close to the house."
