A BY-ELECTION is being held today to fill a county council seat in Weymouth.
Candidates are fighting for the Rodwell division seat vacated by Labour’s Dan Brember who resigned in September due to work commitments.
Mr Brember who was elected in 2013 said he couldn’t give the role his full attention without compromising his other work. He called for his replacement to ‘help safeguard’ Dorset’s youth services.
Polling stations will be open Thursday from 7am-10pm at venues including Hope United Reformed Church in Trinity Street, Moose Lodge in Chickerell Road, St Nicholas Church in Buxton Road and Weymouth South Scout HQ in Rylands Lane.
Candidates fighting the seat are Francis Drake (Ukip), Richard Nickinson (Conservative), Hazel Priest (Labour) Clare Sutton (Green) and Graham Winter (LibDem).
The winner wil be announced on Friday.
