A CHARITY has welcomed a donation of a camera and professional photography session to help it achieve quality pictures on a budget.

Dorset Community Foundation, which raises funds for those most in need across Dorset, has always acknowledged the need for quality photographs for use on its website and social media.

However, with limited funds and only staff to take pictures, the DCF, has solved this problem thanks to the generosity of two local firms.

Condor Office Solutions has kindly donated a brand new Canon digital camera and professional photographer Louise Jolley donated her time and expertise to train three staff members on how to use the new camera and all its many functions.

Staff were taught how to compose a good picture and how to avoid lots of amateur mistakes that only seem to get noticed when the pictures are downloaded and it is too late.

Daisy Ilchovska, marketing and communications manager at the foundation, said: " We are really thankful for the donations from Condor Office Supplies and Louise Jolly Photography. The camera and the photography sessions will help us capture some of the projects we have funded and raise awareness of local charities and community groups who always struggle for donations."

The DCF supports smaller Dorset based charities and community groups and since its inception in 2000 it has distributed more than £10 million worth of grants on the behalf of fund holders and private donors.

Some of the pictures taken with the new camera can be seen on the foundation's new website dorsetcommunityfoundation.org which is due to launch later this month.
