PEOPLE are being warned to stay away from a Portland cliff edge following a rock fall.
The Coastguard was alerted to the cliff fall at West Weares shortly before 2pm this afternoon and sent a team to investigate.
A spokesman said that nobody was suspected to have been caught up in the rock fall and it has informed the local authority, which would be putting measures in place to keep people away from the area.
He added: "We would urge people to stay away from the edge because obviously it's very brittle."
Eye witnesses reported seeing a 'chunk' of the cliff at West Weares falling earlier today.
There have also been reports that there were a series of up to four rock falls in the area.
A witness said: "People down on the beach just heard a big noise and it was another chunk of the cliff that's come down."
