A MOTORBIKE and a car collided with each other in a serious collision near Dorchester.

Emergency services rushed to the scene shortly before 5pm at the crossroad junction on Bockhampton Lane, between Tincleton and Lower Bockhamton.

The biker has been treated for serious injuries which are not thought to be life threatening.

The road was shut in all directions, and from Stinsford Roundabout.

Motorists faced lengthy tailbacks earlier and were urged to avoid the area if possible.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “We were called to the incident at 4.56pm to reports of a road traffic collision between a motorcycle and a car.

“It happened on the B-road junction between Tincleton and Lower Bockhampton.

“We have closed the four in all four directions following the crash.

“There is a lot of congestion in and around the area and motorists are being advised to avoid the area.

“The ambulance is currently at the scene as there are serious injuries.”
