A NEW harmony singing group aimed for the over 50s will be launching this month.
Supported with funding from Dorset Partnership of Older People Programme (POPP), Harmonics will be meeting once a week for a two hour singing session and is urging people to join.
The group will be open to anyone who likes to sing, with no need for participants to read music as all songs will be taught by ear.
Community singing leader Su Lewis has more than 10 years’ experience of teaching and running workshops in songwriting, voice and harmony singing. She runs regular singing groups and leads a local community choir as well as working as a freelance workshop leader and community music event organiser. Su is a member of the Natural Voice Practitioners’ Network and shares their belief that singing is everyone’s birthright, and teaches in a way that makes it accessible to all.
Once the group has become established there may also be opportunities to go out into the community to share their singing at local events if participants are keen to perform.
Starting on Thursday June 18 at 2.00pm until 4pm, Harmonics will meet every Thursday afternoon in Westham, at Weymouth Community Fire Station, Radipole Lane.
