FOUR crews tackled a barn fire near Hardy's Monument in Portesham.
The fire began after hay inside the barn caught alight.
Two crews from Dorchester, two from Bridport and Beaminster, and a water carrier from Poole and a Land Rover from Maiden Newton were called to the scene.
The fire began at 8.30am this morning and was extinguished using four sets of breathing apparatus, two main lines and a hose reel jet. External farm machinery was also used to remove hay from the barn.
The fire was extinguished by 11.54am and the incident was scaled down to one relief fire crew from Swanage Fire Station.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
