A MULTIPLE operator has acquired Charlestown Post Office in Weymouth.
The post office and store will now be run by Central Convenience Stores.
No jobs have been lost and additional staff members have been hired in the move.
The company, formed by Steve Wilkinson and Tony Start – two former directors of Martin McColl – made its latest acquisition in a sale brokered by the specialist convenience retail property adviser Christie + Co.
Jonathan Southgate, of Christie + Co’s south-west retail team, said: “Charlestown Post Office is an excellent new acquisition for Central Convenience Stores – benefiting from a prominent position in this popular tourist resort in Dorset.
“As such, it is a profitable post office and store which I’m certain will go from strength to strength under its new, highly experienced, ownership.”
The freehold for Charlestown Post Office and Store was sold for £430,000.
New store manager Daniel Phillips told the Echo: “It’s great news for the store, it’s a developing company.
“We are hosting an open day on July 25 raising money for Help For Heroes – there will be face-painting and other activities.”
