FOLLOWING a story about the Portland Academy, we would like to clarify that Ray Bulpit is not the managing director of Southwell Business Park.

The views expressed in the Dorset Echo yesterday are solely those of Mr Bulpit, a former managing director of the park, and not those of the current owners.

Mr Bulpit has no connection with the ownership or management of the business park. The present owner is Compass Point Estates which is in favour of the proposals for the Isle of Portland Aldridge Community Academy (IPACA).

Mr Paul, chief executive of Compass Point Estates, said: "Compass Point Estates, as owners and operators of the business park at Southwell, are fully supportive and 100 per cent behind the IPACA planning application as are the significant majority of businesses on the park.

“We look forward to IPACA opening its superb new facilities here on the estate"

Plans to site the academy at Southwell Business Park are due to go before Weymouth and Portland Borough Council’s planning and traffic committee tomorrow.

Plans for the £15million campus include alterations, extensions, a new sports hall and sports fields as well as re-organisation and additions to road, footpath and cycle routes.

IPACA opened at the start of the academic year and is based in four existing Portland schools on five separate campuses. It is a locally-run, non-selective co-educational state school for students aged four to 19.

We apologise for the error.
