Emergency services were called to a car on fire in Sherborne.
Fire and police were at the scene on Marston Road.
A spokesman for Dorset Police said: "We were called by the fire service at 3.05pm to reports of a vehicle fire.
"We were called to direct traffic and are still at the scene.
"The fire service initially closed the road and we assisted with closures."
There were also reports of fuel on the road.
Firefighters used two hose reels and breathing apparatus to extinguish the flames.
